Plans for sell2me.com
It’s been almost two years since I wrote 11 rules to sell to Donato Diorio, CEO, Broadlook Technologies on my blog I,Donato.
Ever since then, I have been amazed by the response to the post. Something in the post resonated with many people. I have received hundreds of emails and phone calls with comments like “damn straight”, “brilliant”, “How all sales should be done”, “I’m writing my own rules”, etc. While I would like to take credit for starting all this emotion and saying that it was my plan, I can’t. The original blog was in response to getting overloaded by poor sales calls. I love being sold to. I hate getting inundated with connection attempts by sales unprofessionals that didn’t do their homework.
I wrote the blog for a selfish reason.
Every time I received an outreach from a sales rep, software, hardware, services, etc… if they did not engage me to my satisfaction, I sent them the link to my blog. Granted, it may be rude, but I was at least giving them a hint of how I want to be engaged. Some were outraged that I had the gall to respond to an email with this single line
Please read this before selling to me: My rules
In reality I gave them more of a chance then people that never responded. I was giving them a blueprint for a successful outreach. In reality, maybe 1 in 50 took the advice.
For those that obeyed my rules…I had some of the best buying experiences of my career.
After all the feedback and positive personal experience, I decided to create a site where anyone can post their rules, share experiences and generally lift the sales profession. Not sure where it is going to lead, but I am having fun.
